Library
Engenerate exposes reference material through libraries that sit alongside your project files. Knowing which surface a document lives on tells you who can see it and how to use it in chat.
Project Resources vs Libraries
| Surface | What it is | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Project Resources | Files uploaded into this project | Specs, reports, photos, and datasets unique to the project |
| Organization Library | Shared, curated collection for your organization | Company standards and recurring references used across many projects |
| Engenerate Library | Global reference library curated by Engenerate | Public standards, regulations, and agency guidance |
Organization library documents can be attached to a project by reference (not copied). Engenerate Library access may depend on your subscription.
What the Library Is For
Use the Library when you want authoritative reference material in the same workflow as your project documents, without having to upload those references yourself.
Accessing the Library
Click Libraries in the app header to open the library panel beside your current workspace.
Browsing the Library
You can browse or search library content to find the references you need.
Depending on your setup, the library panel and chat context picker may include:
- Organization library documents
- Engenerate library documents
Use search and filters to narrow by title, jurisdiction, or agency.
Reading Library Documents
Library documents open in a read-only viewer. You can review the content, but you do not edit the source document there.
Using Library Documents in Chat
To use library material as chat context:
- Open the chat + menu
- Under Context, turn on Libraries
- Open the Libraries picker and select the documents you want
Pinned library documents are retrieved alongside your other active context and can appear in citations just like project resources.
When to Use the Library
The Library is especially useful when:
- you want code, standards, or regulatory references in the same answer as project material
- you need a known reference set available across multiple turns
- you are comparing your project documents against external requirements or guidance
